Care in Action supporters help provide resources to kids and families involved with the child protection system in response to requests from county social workers. Oftentimes, these requests are for relatively simple things or small amounts of money, yet they make a world of difference to the families affected.

Here are some examples:

  • The last portion of the adoption fees so that a foster family could adopt a young boy. This boy had already experienced significant trauma in his short life, and could not be returned to his family. This gift was instrumental in giving this young boy a forever family and home.
  • A portion of past-due rent for a single mother who had fallen behind due to a job loss. The mother had gotten a new job, and this gift helped her maintain stable housing as she was getting back on her feet.
  • Desperately needed new tires for the mother of a 4-year-old girl. This mother was  struggling after the death of the girl’s father, and this gift ensured she could get her daughter to school and appointments safely.
  • Gift cards for food and household goods, and help with moving, for a young mom who was moving out on her own after having spent most of her life in foster care due to abuse and neglect.
